Update: Mistwalker revealed on their Twitter account that more information on a Western version of Last Story will be revealed by the end of this year. Localizations from earlier Mistwalker products varied between 2 months (Lost Odyssey) and 9 months (Blue Dragon).
It seems like an eternity ago since we’ve heard something new about Mistwalker’s Wii RPG The Last Story. Last month we got a batch of scans showing off plenty of cutscenes and battle footage. This month Mistwalker decided to release a trailer containing a lot of footage from those scans. The trailer shows off an impressive mix between cutscenes, battle footage and gameplay. Those who’ve kept up with Famitsu translations and the columns written by the yet unknown producer/director will have an upper hand in understanding the trailer, despite being completely in Japanese (translations will be added as soon as possible.)
The trailer contains the usual high attention to detail that we’ve come to know from Mistwalker, a colorful cast of characters and an impressive soundtrack by a yet unknown composer. Be sure to check our screenshot gallery containing 59 screencaps courtesy of myself and Andriasang.
There’s no word on the English localization yet but looking at earlier Mistwalker games, it doesn’t seem that the Western release will take an eternity. The Last Story is in the last stages of development and will be released later this year in Japan. Be sure to check back regularly for the latest updates on this Wii epic.
